The 1001 Nights Podcast is a storytelling podcast that brings you the ancient mythologies of the Arabian Nights retold as original works of fiction by modern authors. It is the second night.
Tonight, we pick up where we left off in the story of the The Tale of the Trader and the Djinn (by Nathan Kane). In this story, a terrible demon living in a wasted dream land is trying to claim the life of a bond trader who accidentally killed the demon’s child. While the bond trader was waiting for the demon at arrive and claim his life, three old men appeared, each with strange animals in tow. The Tale of the First Old Man and the Gazelle (by Nathan Kane) began, when one of the old men intervened on the trader’s behalf and offered to trade his story, the tale of how he came to be leading a Gazelle through the strange place, for one third of the bond trader’s life. This episode, we’ll hear the end of the first old man’s story, in which he had just described accidentally killing his own transformed niece, and we’ll begin the story of The Second Old Man and the Two Grey Dogs (by Mircea Lupu).
