Tonight, we pick up where we left off in the story of The Second Old Man and the Two Grey Dogs (by Mircea Lupu). This story is told by an old man who is bargaining with a terrifying demon for a third of a bond trader’s life. Trying to impress the demon, the old man describes his encounter with the Froome Brothers and their attempts to launch a successful season of plays in his small town. You’ll also hear a sample from one of their plays, a monologue delivered by a hysterical, intoxicated pre-teen.
We’ll also start The Story of the Third Old Man and the Mule (by Tim Lehey), which tells of a negotiation and diplomacy professor who is a master of reading people’s faces. The professor procures a special anniversary gift from a strange old hag for his wife, only to find that his marriage is not as sound as he believed.
