In Night 6, we pick up where we left off in “The Story of the Fisherman.” The fisherman, Calvin, had accidentally saved the life of Joe, a mobster, while out on an early morning fishing trip. Instead of receiving a reward for his good deed however, Joe put a gun to his head. Calvin finds himself telling the gangster the story of “The King Yunan and the Sage Duban” in an effort to save his own life. In this story, the sage Duban had just convinced the sickly king Yunan to leave the palace walls and promised to cure him without salves or medicines. Tonight, we will find out if the sage manages to cure the reclusive king, and we’ll also begin the story of “The Husband and the Parrot,” which is told by the king to a jealous minister.
“The Husband and the Parrot” is retold by Sheila Grau, the author of the new book Dr. Critchlore’s School for Minions. “The King Yunan and the Sage Duban” is retold by Andrew Gretes, the author of How to Dispose of Dead Elephants.
